Green light for ‘Europe’s largest Passivhaus development’ in Canary Wharf

The scheme for student accommodation provider Urbanest, designed by architect Apt, will see the construction of three 28-, 36- and 46-storey towers offering 1,672 student beds and 80 residential apartments.

The development will be located at the vacant 2 Trafalgar Way site at the edge of Canary Wharf and the proposals have been supported by University College London.

The project is targeting the BREEAM Outstanding standard and has a focus on sustainable transport, with 1,500 cycle spaces provided across the site and connections to the local cycling network. Construction is expected to start in the first quarter of 2022.
